Cremation

First Avenue Funeral Service offers complete cremation services. If you are considering cremation, you should know that there is a wide range of choices available to you.

When You Select Cremation, You Still Have Choices.

The biggest misconception about cremation is that there can't be any funeral, or because the final disposition is cremation, there will be no visitation or service. Nothing could be further from the truth. With cremation, families can choose the comfort of a traditional funeral with the cremation taking place afterwards.

Basic or Direct cremation may be right in certain circumstances, but others may desire additional services. As specialists in cremation services, we can assist you and your family with any arrangement. This includes memorial services or traditional funerals with services in a house of worship or any appropriate facility.

Memorial services before or after cremation are arranged with or without the deceased present. The service may occur following the cremation with the cremated remains present in an appropriate urn.

Decisions you will need to make include:

A container or combustible casket for the body ($150 for a cardboard container or $400 to $5295 for combustible alternative caskets suitable for a public viewing)

An urn for the remains, ranging from the included plastic urn at no additional charge, or a selection priced from $100 to $1475

Whether there is to be any viewing, public or private

Location and scheduling of a memorial service

Final placement of the cremated remains

Cremation, as well as burial and entombment, are the final disposition of the funeral. Most families choose viewing, religious services, or chapel services preceding the actual cremation, although direct cremation is also an option. Our funeral home provides cremation services as an environmentally responsible alternative to burial.
