Domingo De Jesus

Domingo DeJesus, lovingly known as "Sunday" to his friends and family, passed away on April 15, 2023, in a tragic traffic collision while walking his beloved dog "DJ." Domingo was 64 years old.
Domingo was a selfless man who dedicated his life to serving humanity. He was a warrior, a chief, and a protector of youth. He had a passion for the outdoors, which he enjoyed through fishing, hiking, biking, and gardening. However, his greatest passion was being a lifeguard, swim instructor, and Red Cross CPR health and safety instructor. He was also a gifted mason and had the ability to reconstruct and remodel homes on his own.
Domingo's career spanned over 45 years in the New York City parks and recreation lifeguard division. Throughout his career, he touched the lives of many people in various communities throughout the five boroughs of New York City. He dedicated the last 20 years of his career to St. Mary's pool, where he brought hope and life to the surrounding communities.
Domingo is survived by his daughter, Dominique DeJesus Concepcion, his son, Nicholas Domingo DeJesus, his mother, Delia DeJesus Altreche, and seven siblings: Margie, Enriqueta, Santos, Miriam, Ivan, Maria, and Nancy. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Domingo's passing has left a huge void in the lives of those who knew him. He will always be remembered as a beacon of light and a selfless servant to others.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Cross Church in the Bronx, New York. The date and time of the service will be announced at a later time.
