Elik Johnson Obituary

Elik Johnson was born February 13, 1977, to Linda Lewis Johnson and Edgar Johnson at Brooklyn Hospital, Brooklyn, NY. Elik’s sunset took place on November 17, 2022, whereas our beloved King earned his wings and golden crown which no one can take away. He was 45 years of age.

Elik had a few aliases. The most common was “EJ,” an abbreviation of his full name. He also answered to “Ralow” and “Rockwell.” EJ and Jober became best friends as youngsters growing up in Harlem. EJ used to wear a long trench coat that reminded Jober of the character Rollo from the 1970’s sitcom, “Sanford and Son.” Rollo always found a way to earn money. Like his namesake, whether working in a church or personal shopping for the elderly, Ralow knew how to generate income. EJ Ralow was likeable, well mannered, and always respectful.

Jober’s cousin, Shawanna “ShayShay” Rockwell, gave EJ her last name making him an official member of their Rock Family. Harlem’s West 148th Street is where the “Day-1 Crew” was created, and the name Ralow came to life. The “Get Busy Boys” was an extended family on West 145th Street where EJ Rockwell was a member of both.

EJ was a handsome, fashionable, and friendly young man. One afternoon in 2010, he Bestie Orlando, were hanging at the park on Lenox Avenue and West 141st Street. Orlando introduced him to an extremely attractive woman, Monet Adams. EJ immediately and privately nicknamed her “Juicy” because “that name fit her.” He urged her to get a tattoo of a dripping strawberry placed on the right side of her neck. But only he could call her Juicy. EJ and Juicy became inseparable. Soon thereafter, Orlando stood as best man at their wedding. EJ’s love and care extended to his sister-in-law Jeanette who was diagnosed with cancer in 2021. Always supportive, EJ availed himself to help her in any way he could.

Elik “EJ Ralow Rockwell” was a fun-loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle. Predeceased by his mother Linda Lewis Johnson, he leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Monet (Juicy) Adams Johnson; his father, Edgar Johnson; brothers: Jamel (Mele Mel), Lanaord (Gweido), and Tyrone; sisters: Shanetta and Tonya (DoWee); children: Treyvon, Elisha (LeeLee), Tyree, and Destiny (Moochie Mh); grandchildren: Ethan, Essence, Annmarie, and Rylee; nieces and nephews: Latoya, Kenyatta, Tyshaie, Nygeri, Noland, Zkai, Emily, Summer, and Joshua; Bestie Jober and his cousin Shawna; Day-1s: Samuel, Earl, Joseph, Lamont, and Corey; and the entire Get Busy Boys Crew.
