Eric Junior Jackson, born December 26, 1989, in the heart of the
Bronx, New York, tragically died on September 30, 2024, at
the age of 34. Life threw Eric some curveballs, but he handled
them like a champ, always armed with courage and a wicked
sense of humor that got him through the toughest battles. He
carried heavy weights on his shoulders, grappling with mental
health struggles and occasional brushes with the law. Yet, Eric
was so much more than the hardships he faced. He was a son, a
father, a brother, and a friend—a true original known for his
quick wit, and big heart.
Eric was the beloved son of the late Eric Jackson and Kristin
Geraldine Edmunds. He is survived by his precious daughter,
Sanyiah Amariana Reyes. She was his heart and pride. He was
also the loving brother to Preston Morris Edmunds and Amanda
Jackson, serving as the go-to source for laughs and unconditional
love, even when the going got tough. Eric was the “cool uncle” to
his nieces and nephews, always ready with a joke or a playful
prank, leaving a trail of laughter wherever he went. He was
surrounded by a strong family network, including his uncle’s
James Jackson (wife Margaret) and Anthony Jackson (wife
Anita), his aunts Michelle Dodds, Oaré Beyah, Joann Johnson-
Scott (husband Scott Dewitt), Lorena Jackson, and the late
Denise Sawyer (husband Charles Sawyer). He is also
remembered by a host of cousins who cherished him deeply.
Growing up, Eric shared a special bond with his grandmother,
Marilyn Smith, who was his rock through thick and thin. Always
armed with advice and unwavering support, she wasn’t afraid to
keep it real. Eric had his own unique style—sometimes with
sagging pants, but always living life on his own terms. In a
classic family moment, his grandmother once strolled through the
supermarket with her own pants sagging to make a point. Eric
thought it was hilarious, and that memory turned into one of their
favorite family stories.
