Fernando Acevedo Rivera Sr., affectionately known to all as "Pito," passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026, at Mount Sinai Hospital. He was 72 years old.
Born on November 4, 1954, to Ferdinand Rivera and Aida Luz Acevedo Cortez, Pito was a man of immense pride, skill, and heart. He was a self-made trailblazer who believed that with a sharp mind and steady hands, a person could master anything.
Pito was, in the eyes of many, an expert fisherman. His true passion was found on the water, surrounded by good music, a cold beer, and the company of friends.
Above all, Pito was a teacher. He was passionate about passing on his craft and life skills to his sons and grandsons. He would those around him, famously tell telling them, "You will never go hungry if you learn how to work with your hands." He took great honor in his work and even greater pride in seeing others succeed through the knowledge he shared.
