Hilda N Townes

Hilda Nanette Townes, 69 years old, was called home to be with Allah (Lord) on September 30, 2025, during the early morning hours at her home in Upper Manhattan (Washington Heights). As we mourn in the remembrance of Hilda, we remember that she was kind, fun, loving, generous, caring, and strong! She was the matriarch of the family who would be deeply loved and missed.  May Allah's Peace and Mercy Be Upon Hilda Nanette Townes.

     Hilda was born on June 17, 1956, in Harlem (USA), Manhattan, NY.  She was the 3rd oldest daughter to Richard Townes and Anita Sandford. Hilda graduated from Evander Childs High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Metropolitan College of New York. Hilda was an accountant at the Natural Museum of History for many years until the unfortunate 2008 Stock Market Crash caused massive layoffs, and Mommy was part of it. Remaining resilient mommy steadfast on with other work and lastly enjoying being a Poll Worker and Babysitting her Grandchildren!

      Ma, Mommy was what we called her. Ma loved living life, whether she was traveling places with family and friends, shopping, and or staying in relaxing watching her Soap Operas with her pet's; Egypt and Messiah and talking on the phone with her children, grandchildren, sisters and friends. Ma was so much of a gentle soul that she was a grandmother to my dog Jah and still ma to my cat Goldie. Ma loved people, animals, and her plants. 

During this time of mourning, Hilda says farewell to her sisters: Najeebah and Tahanee Muhammad, grandchildren: Alexis, Kaya, Selah and Ezra. Farewell to her children: Nakenya, Yaasmiyn, Ahmad, Amira, and Rasheed. Farewell to In-Laws: Joanna, Paulina and and Rayvon. Lastly, farewell to nieces Kahala and Ashley, nephew Courtney Jr., and to cousins and great cousins of the Townes and Sandford family. In addition to other family and friends who loved and admire her!

Now, Hilda returns back home to Allah with Richard Townes Sr.(father), Anita Sandford (mother), Richard Townes Jr.(brother), Courtney Townes Sr.(brother) and a list of other family and friends.
