Jean Delmoor, best known as “Ieisha” and in her Harlem, New York community as Grandma, passed away on December 14, 2023. Jean was born on July 29, 1947, in Harlem New York. Jean attended Morris High School in the Bronx and later pursued a career as a cook, working at the Antonio Olivieri Center and Cardinal Hayes High School. She also had a passion for fashion, design and enjoyed sewing.
Jean was fun-loving and gregarious, known for her generosity and vibrant smile. She had a quick wit and a wicked sense of humor and was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt. Jean was a friend to all. She had a special love for music, especially Jazz. Her favorite musicians were Nancy Wilson and Frankie Valli.
Jean is survived by her sister Gale, and brother-in-law Sylvan. Her children, Reanita, Paul, and Vernell; son-in-law, William; and she was a cherished grandmother to David, Jasmine, Janisa, Jahirah, Myles, and Malcolm; great-grandmother to Jordan, Ja’Mauri, Kayden, DJ, Nova, and Emerii. Jean leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her mother Mildred (Gardiner) Johns; her husband Frank Charles; her brother Raymond; her brothers Muhammad and Keith; and her grandsons, Nathan and Jeffrey.
Jean Delmoor will be remembered for her loving nature, having a zest for life, and her contributions to the community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
