With deep love and cherished memories, we honor the life of Kelly Salitha Hinds, a beloved mother, sister, cousin, and friend. Kelly was born on November 2, 1964, at Flowers Fifth Avenue Hospital in New York City to Mary Ann Hinds and Lonnie Hinds. She was the second of three children, and from an early age, her vibrant spirit and strong presence were unmistakable. Raised and educated in the Bronx, New York, Kelly worked as a Certified Medical Assistant for many years, dedicating herself to caring for others with compassion. But beyond her profession, it was her personality that truly left a lasting mark. Kelly was bold, expressive, and unapologetically herself. She spoke her mind with honesty and lived her life with passion. Her infectious laughter, radiant style, and larger-than-life energy brought joy to everyone around her.
At the center of Kelly’s world was her beloved daughter, Mary Ann Hinds. Their bond was unbreakable, and her love as a mother was fierce, unwavering, and full of pride. She was not only an amazing person but an extraordinary mother who poured her heart into her family. Kelly found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, celebrating at gatherings with music turned up loud, decorating her home with care, enjoying her favorite television shows, and sharing meals and laughter with family and friends. She created moments that will be treasured forever.
She leaves behind a legacy of love in the hearts of those who knew her best: her daughter, Mary Ann Hinds; her sisters, Marion Davis and Lisandra Hinds; her niece, Courtney Williams; her nephew, Sylvester “George” Laing; her dear cousin Zakiyyah Winkfield; her cousin and best friend, Cherry Nancy; and a host of extended family members and friends who will continue to carry her memory forward.
Though Kelly has departed from this life, her spirit lives on in every laugh she inspired, every lesson she taught, and every life she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
