Lois Brown Obituary

Lois Ethel Brown, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend, passed away on January 6th, 2026, at the age of 67.

Born on July 27th, 1958, in Brooklyn, New York, Lois brought love and joy into the lives of all who knew her. She went to Public School 21, I.S. 271 and then went to South Shore High School.

She worked for the postal service for over 10 years and resigned in 1994. She then went on to work with H&R Block where she retired in 2020.

Lois was a radiant soul with an infectious laugh and a genuinely kind heart. She also carried a strength about her—she was not one to be underestimated. Lois spoke her mind, stood firmly in truth, and never held back. Her authenticity was unmistakable.

Her presence could light up any room. Wherever she went, she either filled the space with laughter or sparked meaningful, thought-provoking conversation. She possessed grit, wit, and a natural passion that drew people effortlessly. With her sharp humor and expressive spirit, Lois had the rare ability to command attention, often turning everyday moments into her own unforgettable comedy show.

Lois was the comedian you never knew you needed but always remembered. Everyone says “she’s hilarious” but she is serious! Her famous quote is” if someone shows you who they are, believe them!”

She is preceded in death by her parents Mauvice Brown and Alvin Edwards, her sister Dorinda Mann, her aunt Deborah Mickens, Valerie Davis and Michelle Davis Smoot. Lois will be deeply missed by her beloved surviving children: Shivice Brown (Peaches), La-Fondra Brown, Henry Brooks, Lois Brooks and Ebony Davis (adopted daughter). She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Vanessa Turpin and Tina Brown, as well as her aunt Deidra Witherspoon, uncle Dwayne Davis, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 6 nieces, 4 nephews and a host of cousins.
