Some people only walk this earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us.
On March 13th, our dear lovely Lolita AlfredaCosgrove, 69, departed from us while in the care of Mount Sinai Hospital.
Lolita Alfreda Cosgrove also known as Takiya was born July 30, 1953 in Roanoke, Virginia to Alfreda and Joseph Robinson. She was the third eldest of 11 children. Though born in Virginia she lived majority of her life in New York where She married her husband Albert Cosgrove Sr and raised her 7 children.
Lolita worked at All Children’s House where she dedicated her time to work with children. Once she left All Children’s house her love for children drew her to foster 4 more children who she raised as if they were her own. Lolita dedicated her time to help raise her grandchildren. Her door was always open to someone in need of help whether it was family or friends. She always ensured that every child who crossed her threshold was safe, healthy, and happy.
Lolita or as others known her as Takiya loved watching her shows, putting puzzles together, reading books, spending time with her family and always spilling the latest tea. She always checked on her family and someone was always her Sugarbritches.
Lolita (Takiya) was a strong woman who lived her life with confidence and care. She was very bold and outspoken. Her warm smile and strong presence will always be with us forever in our mind and our hearts.
Lolita was predeceased by her parents Alfreda and Joseph Robinson, her husband Albert Cosgrove, her sisters Joanne, Tammy and Vickie and grandson Rahim (RahRah)
Lolita is survived by her 3 daughters Tanya Cosgrove, Rakim Cosgrove-Sarpong, Tarnisha Cosgrove-Idehen; 4 sons Rahim Cosgrove, Albert Cosgrove Jr., Kareem Cosgrove, and Rashawn Meyers.
