Marilyn Beckett Roberts, 80, of Bronx, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at the Wayne Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. She was born in Bronx, NY, on May 12, 1944, a daughter of the late Annie Wardlow and Willie Pearson.
Marilyn worked for the National Council for Negro Women for many years before retiring. Sister Beckett was a Spiritual, fun-loving, and God-fearing woman. She loved spending time with her church family and friends. Her children gave her the greatest joy, and she enjoyed caring for her Family. Marilyn also enjoyed attending the Senior Center, where she organized and implemented many fun-filled activities. Her favorite pastime was helping others and playing Bingo. Although she may not have accepted the title, she was the Matriarch of the Family.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, George Roberts; three daughters, Sanqueen and Tiffany Beckett-Roberts, and Dr. Cheryl Beckett Minor (Craig Minor); five great-grandchildren (Craig & Nicole Minor), Tatiyana, Kavaud, Craig Jr III (Nerina & Desmond Moultriez), Katy and Owen. Sisters Barbara (late Vincent) Pettiford, (Maria and Charles (Renee) Pettiford), Beatrice Wardlow (Keith) Luchone, Talema and late Virgil), Laverne Wardlow (late Keyani) and brother, Anthony Wardlow. She also leaves to mourn her dear friend JoAnne Cash.
She is predeceased by her mother, Annie Wardlow, father Willie Pearson; sister, Christina (Tina) Wardlow, brothers Thomas (Sonny) and Cornelius (Pee Wee) Wardlow; and daughter, Crystal Wardlow,
